General oily slops, from drilling, production, and refining, is a long-term toxic problem that has been around ever since we started relying on hydrocarbons. The 3 phases of oil, solids (drilling debris e.g.) and water each must be separated, handled, and disposed of in a way unique to its composition. Drilling and production cycles are notoriously volatile, but as the industry matures, we will begin to see abandonment & decommissioning become more popular, and with these activities comes more potentially toxic waste. In addition, ports, oil basons and processing sites are seeing a build up of slops reserves that need an urgent, cheap, clean, and environmentally efficient solution. In addition, the requirement to take carbon off the road by vastly removing waste products from the haulage process is a valuable green advantage when improving their overall greenhouse gas emission reporting.
